If you have read any of my previous blog posts or the about me section of my website then you might see the word lace and know that it is going to be a challenge for me. I mean I am not girlie, unless I see a snake or spider then I will scream like a little girl, and I am a mom to two boys. So lace is not something that is plentiful in my life. So once again I found myself trying to think about the word lace in a way that I could apply to my life. Hmmmmm....... the only thing I came up with in my house was our shoes. They have laces which is just the plural form of lace, right!? Right! So I took the shoes that my boys, my husband and I wear on basically a daily basis and put them together with their laces all jumbled together. Now this picture is not necessarily pretty or amazing but it tells a lot about us. My husbands shoes are the sensible black rockports. They are functional, comfortable, simplistic, sturdy and overall a smart choice for him in his daily work life as well as attending church. My husband is a simple, no drama, smart guy who is a rock for our family. Now my oldest son owns the black and yellow tennis shoes. He just got them recently because he outgrew his others. He is at that age where he growing like crazy. His shoes are a little flashier then his dad's but still pretty simple, comfy and functional. He is a lot like his dad in so many ways. My youngest son's shoes are the red high tops. These are a little more "look at me" which E isn't like that really but he definitely is in a confidant place in his life. He is silly, loud and loves sports. He probably has a little more of my personality. Then you have my simple gray with a touch of blue, tennis shoes. I wear my tennis shoes everywhere, except church I have a pair of dress shoes for that, because they are comfortable, simple, and basic. As crazy as my day can be, I need something simple I don't have to worry about. Also I am not very graceful so me in something like high heels running around would probably result in an ER trip to repair a broken ankle. So though this picture isn't anything amazing artistically, I think it is a great glimpse into the people I love dearly and our daily life. So for me the word lace was about a lot more than some pretty decorative trim.
